BELGRADE: Popular Serbian film, TV and theatre actor Gordan Kičić’s directorial debut Real Story / Realna priča reached second place in the national box office charts, the second strong Serbian opening in two months. The film is a coproduction between Serbia and Montenegro.

BELGRADE: FNE spoke with Gordan Matić, who was appointed Director of Film Center Serbia in the summer of 2019. He shared with us his thoughts on the challenges and opportunities the Serbian film industry is facing today.

BELGRADE: Serbian helmer Darko Bajić is shooting his new feature film Svetozar Miletić (aka Fathers of Liberty / Očevi slobode) on location in Serbia, including Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sremski Karlovci, Vršac, Subotica and Sombor.

BELGRADE: Dušan Kovačević, the most prominent Serbian dramatist of his generation, is currently in production with his new feature film titled It’s Not So Bad to Be Human / Nije loše biti čovek. The production has been supported and aided by Film Center Serbia.

BELGRADE: The newly founded Belgrade-based production company Firefly is about to start the construction of the Firefly Studios outside Belgrade, housing two 2,000 square metre sound stages and a smaller 800 square metre one with a water tank, as well as four hectares of backlot, production offices and related facilities. The whole area to be constructed occupies 12,000 square metres. The construction is expected to be completed in 2020.

BELGRADE: Goran Radovanović’s latest documentary The Makavejev Case or Trial in a Movie Theater screens in the Between the Seas competition at the 23rd Ji.hlava IDFF, which runs 24 – 29 October 2019.

BELGRADE: Military Academy 5 / Vojna akademija 5 by Dejan Zečević was number one at the Serbian box office with nearly 47,754 admissions on 66 screens in the first seven days of its cinema distribution, grossing 16,198,076 RSD / 137,953 USD.

BELGRADE: The Russian/Serbian feature film Hotel Belgrade / Hotel Beograd directed by Konstantin Statskiy started shooting in the capital city of Serbia. This rom-com  is a sequel to the popular Russian TV series The Kitchen and Hotel Eleon, screened in more than 20 countries.

BELGRADE: The former director of Film Center Serbia Boban Jevtić has recently assumed the position of head of content and strategy at the newly-founded Belgrade based production company Firefly Production.
