BELGRADE: The 46th edition of FEST, the largest and most popular film festival in Serbia, will screen 126 films from 23 February to 4 March 2018. Sixteen films are in the International Competition and five feature films will screen in the Serbian Cinema competitive section.
BELGRADE: Emir Kusturica is in preparation with Just One More Time, a feature film loosely based on Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s works and his first collaboration with the Hong Kong-based Dirty Monkey Films Group. The film will be shot in China and also in Marseilles and Rome starting July or August 2018.
BELGRADE: For the second year in a row Film Center Serbia maintained its regular schedule of financial support contests and at the end of 2017 the Goverment granted a total of 8,482,200 EUR / 1.005 m RSD.
BELGRADE: Raško Miljković’s debut feature The Witch Hunters / Zlogonje has been acquired by the Berlin-based company Pluto Film and a market screening will take place during the 2018 Berlin Film Festival on 17 February 2018. The Witch Hunters is a Serbian/Macedonian coproduction.
BELGRADE: Front Page Midgets / Patuljci sa naslovnih strana by Milorad Milinković topped the Serbian box office during its first weekend. The film released by Taramount Film on 18 January 2018 surpassed Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle with 7,146 admissions.
PRODUCTION: Mladen Kovačević in Production with Serbian/French/Swedish Coproduction
Serbia 15-01-2018BELGRADE: Mladen Kovačević is currently in production with his third long documentary Merry Christmas, Yiwu / Srećna Nova, Yiwu. This Serbian/French/Swedish coproduction is the first Serbian film ever to be almost entirely shot in the People’s Republic of China.
Five Serbian Projects Pitched at First French-Serbian Coproduction Workshop in Paris
Serbia 13-12-2017BELGRADE: Five new Serbian feature film projects were presented to potential French coproducers at the first French-Serbian coproduction workshop held at Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée in Paris from 7 to 8 December 2017.
BELGRADE: Mila Turajlić’s sophomore long documentary The Other Side of Everything, a Serbian/French/Qatar coproduction and also the first HBO Europe coproduction with Serbia, will have its premiere on HBO Europe on 14 December 2017. This documentary awarded at IDFA is also the first coproduction between Serbia and Qatar.
BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia wrapped the 2017 funding year by distributing 1,596,760 EUR / 191 m RSD for the production of six feature films, eight minority coproductions, three experimental films and two difficult films.
BELGRADE: Film Center Serbia distributed 609,238 EUR / 72,788,291 RSD in six categories: long documentary production, script development, short documentary production, short fiction film production, short animated film production and cinema predigitalisation and digitalisation. The grants were announced on 4 December 2017.
