BRATISLAVA: The 7th Slovak Film Week, the annual showcase of domestic film production, will take place in Bratislava from 29 November to 5 December 2021. The main programme will screen 25 Slovak films - nine features, 11 documentaries and 5 shorts - which had their releases in 2020.
BRATISLAVA: Cinemas in Slovakia remain open despite the rising numbers of Covid cases. They were allowed to restart operations, albeit under certain conditions, from 17 May 2021, according to a decree by the Slovak government, announced on 12 May this year.

PRODUCTION: Iveta Grófová Shoots Slovak/Czech/Hungarian War Drama Emma and the Death’s Head
Slovakia 05-11-2021BRATISLAVA: Slovak director Iveta Grófová is currently in production with her new feature film Emma and the Death’s Head / Ema a smrtihlav. This Slovak/Czech/Hungarian historical drama had been originally written and directed by Peter Krištúfek, who died tragically in 2018.
BRATISLAVA: The 15th edition of the Slovak Queer Film Festival is screening 52 films from 24 countries at the Kino Lumiѐre in Bratislava until 11 October 2021.
BRATISLAVA: Martin Šulík was awarded the main IGRIC prize for directing The Man with Hare Ears / Muž so zajačími ušami at the ceremony of the 32nd edition of the annual national film prizes, which took place at the House of Culture Mirror Grove in Bratislava on 26 September 2021.
PIEŠŤANY: The historical drama Dear Comrades! / Dorogie tovarishchi directed by Andrey Konchalovskiy received the Meeting Point Europe Award in the main competition of the 16th IFF Cinematik Piešťany. The festival took place in the spa city of Piešťany from 14 to 19 September 2021.
BRATISLAVA: The Afghan director Sahraa Karimi has decided to film the story of her escape from the Talibans. The film will be produced by Sahra's classmate, the Slovak producer Wanda Adamík Hrycová, who has become a big part of this story by helping her geting out of Afghanistan.
PIEŠŤANY: Eight feature films have been selected under the auspices of FIPRESCI for Meeting Point Europe, the main competition of the 16th IFF Cinematik Piešťany. The festival will take place in the spa city of Piešťany from 14 to 19 September 2021.
