BALTIC EVENT CO-PRODUCTION MARKET CALLS FOR PROJECTS AND PRESENTS EURIMAGE CO-PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT AWARD
In 2024, the Baltic Event Co-Production Market, Northern Europe's largest international co-production market, will have exciting additions! We are enthusiastic to reintroduce the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award for 2024-2026 and launch a new section for children's and youth film projects! Baltic Event Co-Production Market, held since 2005, has always aimed to foster fruitful meetings. “We are proud to present Eurimages Co-Production Development Award, as it not only increases the visibility of the winning project but also allows it to develop with greater financial freedom, embodying the spirit of a true European co-production,” says Marge Liiske, the head of Industry@Tallinn &; Baltic Event.The Eurimages Co-production Development Award includes a non-reimbursable subsidy of €20,000 for feature-length fiction, animation and documentary films, which must be used exclusively to cover the development expenses of the co-production project.

TALENTS! APPLY FOR THE DISCOVERY CAMPUS PROGRAMME!
The Black Nights film festival takes place in around six months, so it is time to start making plans! All talents are welcome to join Discovery Campus, an international continuing education program by Industry@Tallinn &; Baltic Event, now accepting submissions. Held from November 18-22 in Tallinn alongside the Black Nights Film Festival, it aims to showcase new talents and foster networking within the film industry.The Discovery Campus programme consists of five strands: Music Meets Film, dedicated to film music; Frame Within the Frame for cinematographers; Black Room, focusing on the art department; Black Nights Stars, for actors and actresses; and Script Pool, which highlights five international projects and the team – director, scriptwriter, and producer – behind them.Over the years, Discovery Campus has hosted hundreds of talented film professionals. During the four-day programme in November, the participants will attend masterclasses by renowned experts, workshops and events to upgrade and update their knowledge.Applications are due August 15. Black Nights Stars, tailored for actors, accepts requests until May 15, 2024.

Sonja Prosenc’s third feature, Family Therapy, was selected as one of the ten films in the main international competition of the Tribeca Film Festival, founded in 2002 by actor Robert De Niro. This year, the Tribeca festival received a record 13,016 submissions from all over the world.

The East-West co-production market connecting cottbus is now open for submissions of feature film projects for its 26th edition (6-8 November 2024).

Breaking toxic generational cycles and trauma is a highly relevant topic, especially among young people. Especially for a 23-year-old Dalibor, who after being released from prison, finds out that his violent father has a chance to get custody of his younger brother. He therefore decides to help his mother with the custody battle, but even here, old disputes and traumas gradually resurface. Dalibor decides to process this pain in a truly original way - as a fakir in a traveling circus. However, lying on a bed of nails or spitting gasoline on burning torches provides only a short-term escape. Will Dalibor eventually manage to emancipate and find his place in life?

"Weeds," an animated short film, has been chosen to be showcased at the official selection of La Cinef at the Festival de Cannes. Directed by Pola Kazak and produced by MAUR film and the Film Academy of Miroslav Ondricek in Pisek (Czech Republic), this graduation work promises to engage audiences with its visually captivating narrative.

The new short film Sauna Day, directed by Anna Hints and Tushar Prakash, was selected to premiere as the first Estonian film in the special programme of La Semaine de la Critique (Critics' Week) at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
