VILNIUS: The biggest project in Lithuania so far this year, the Netflix feature film Paradise, is currently being filmed in the Lithuanian capital city Vilnius.
VILNIUS: Dansu Films has started filming the dramedy TV series Troll Farm / Trolių ferma directed by Ernestas Jankauskas in Lithuania. The project was the winner of the first edition of the co-financing market TV Beats Forum at Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event, which took place in November 2021 within the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
FESTIVALS: Lithuania’s Techno Mama Wins 2021 Scanorama New Baltic Cinema Short Film Competition
Lithuania 16-11-2021VILNIUS: The Lithuanian short film Techno, Mama (2021) by Saulius Baradinskas won the best film prize in the New Baltic Cinema (NBC) competition of short films at the European Film Forum Scanorama, which took place in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda and Šiauliai 4-14 November 2021.
VILNIUS: The Holocaust drama Isaac/Izaokas directed by Jurgis Matulevičius has been selected as Lithuania’s second candidate to for a 2022 Oscar nomination.
VILNIUS: The Rome-based sales agent TVCO has aquired Ernestas Jankauskas‘ I Am Fine, Thanks / Man viskas gerai. The film will be presented for the first time at the Co-production Market & Pitching Forum - MIA in Rome (Mercato Internazionale dell’Audiovisivo) and it has also been selected for the Competition 1-2 at the 37th Warsaw Film Festival, set to take place 8-17 October 2021.
VILNIUS: The German film production company Story House Pictures GmbH is shooting the television series Sisi in Lithuania. The local production company is UAB Nordic Productions. The company also worked on the film Siberian upbringing / Sibirietiškas auklėjimas, with John Malkovich, Eleanor Tomlinson and Peter Stormare, and on the Italian series Anna Karenina (2013) directed by Christian Duguay and produced by Lux Vide.
VILNIUS: A well-known Lithuanian writer and film director Vytautas V Landsbergis, along with newcomer Giedrius Tamoševičius, is currently shooting the historical drama The Poet/Poetas, a true story about the betrayal of Lithuanian partisans.
VILNIUS: The 2021 edition of e-Meeting Point – Vilnius (eMPV) has announced the winners of the Coming Soon and Talents Nest awards.
VILNIUS: Lithuanian cinemas and theatres will re-open on 19 April 2021, following an easing plan proposed by the Ministry of Health and approved by the Government. Tickets will be sold online and no food will be available in cinemas.
VILNIUS: Gritt by Norwegian director Itonje Søimer Guttormsen was awarded Best Film in the European Debut Competition of the 26th Vilnius International Film Festival, which was held online 18 March - 5 April 2021. Residents of Vilnius and Kaunas were able to check-in to hotels for short vacations with unlimited digital screenings.
