LOS ANGELES: The Latvian majority coproduction Flow by Gints Zilbalodis was nominated at the 82nd Golden Globes in the Best Motion Picture – Animated category. Two other minority coproductions from FNE partner countries, The Brutalist and The Girl with the Needle, received nominations.
BUCHAREST: The Romanian Government has approved an amendment to the Ordinance on Cinematography, which includes, among others, a new section for minority coproductions in the grants contest organised by the Romanian Film Centre (CNC).

Region 09-12-2024LUCERNE: The Latvian majority coproduction Flow directed by Gints Zilbalodis received the European Animated Feature Film award, and the Croatian/French/Bulgarian/Slovenian The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent by Nebojša Slijepčević won the EUROPEAN SHORT FILM – Prix Vimeo at the 37th European Film Awards held in Lucerne, Switzerland, on 7 December 2024.

Region 09-12-2024LOS ANGELES: The long animated film Flow directed by Gints Zilbalodis and Green Border by Agnieszka Holland were nominated for the 40th Independent Spirit Awards in the Best International Film category. The Brutalist by Brady Corbet, shot in Hungary with Proton Cinema servicing and using the local tax rebate, will vie for the Best Director award.
BUDAPEST: Hungary and Slovakia will be among the locations for the action feature Matchbox directed by Sam Hargrave and starring John Cena. The shoot is expected to start in January 2025.
The award ceremony took place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 9:00 PM in Kinodvor.

With five awards (European Film, Director, Screenwriter, Actress and the Excellence Award for European Editing) EMILIA PÉREZ was the winner with most awards. The European Film Awards are the most renowned and prestigious awards for European film. The celebration marked the sparkling highlight and conclusion of the Academy’s initiative MONTH OF EUROPEAN FILM that kicked off a month earlier. The gala was streamed and broadcast live by 30 partners from 18 countries across Europe.
