BUCHAREST: Romania has approved a 4% tax on streaming platforms' proceeds from unique transactions or subscription fees. The money will go to the Film Fund, which is managed by the Romanian Film Centre and which provides support for domestic film production. The Film Fund is not receiving any money from the state budget.

BUCHAREST: Chlow Okuno’s debut feature Watcher, which was shot in Bucharest with Romanian company Abis Studio providing services, has been in wide release in the USA since 3 June 2022 and it is set for a VOD release on 21 June 2022.

BUCHAREST: R.M.N. by acclaimed Romanian director/writer/producer Cristian Mungiu has been sold to over 40 countries including North America, where it will be released by IFC Films.

PODGORICA: Film Center of Montenegro has distributed 806,000 EUR as feature film, work in progress, animated and documentary film production grants.

BRNO: The 48th edition of EKOFILM has extended the deadline for submissions to 30 June 2022. Europe's oldest environmental film festival will take place in Brno from 12 to 15 October 2022.

PODGORICA: The 13th edition of UnderhillFest will run in Podgorica from 7 to 15 June 2022. The festival is dedicated to long documentaries created in small cinematography and independent productions.

ZAGREB: The Rise & Shine animation pitching lab is taking place within the World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb from 6 to 8 June 2022, and also within the Animateka International Animated Film Festival in December 2022 in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The lab is organised by CEE Animation and aimed at young filmmakers.

ZLIN: Indian Gandhi & Co by Manish Saini received the Golden Slipper for Best Feature Film in the Children’s Category at the 62nd edition of the Zlin Festival of films for children and youth.
