CANNES: Producers from Bulgaria, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia are among the 20 producers from 20 different countries selected for EFP Producers on the Move. This European Film Promotion's promotion and networking platform will be held before and during the Cannes Film Festival (17-28 May 2022).

LIBEREC: The International Festival of Animated Films – Anifilm will take place in Liberec, Czech Republic, from 10 to 15 May 2022. Eleven films have been selected for the Feature Film Competition, including the Czech/Slovak coproduction My Sunny Maad by Michaela Pavlátová. Fifteen games are competing in the International Competition for Computer Games.

ZAGREB: The 3rd edition of Drive in Culture will screen domestic and European films in the Croatian towns of Sisak, Pula, Osijek and Zagreb from 6 to 28 May 2022. The event is organised by the production company SUBMARINE.

BUCHAREST: Bad Luck Banging or Loony Porn by Radu Jude was awarded Best Film at the 16th edition of Gopo Awards, held at the National Theatre in Bucharest on 3 May 2022. Cristi Puiu was awarded Best Director for Malmkrog.

PODGORICA: Montenegrin writer/director Ivan Marinović is currently in preparation with the farcical comedy Forever Hold Your Peace / Živi i zdravi, which he plans to start shooting on 13 May 2022. The film is a coproduction between Montenegro, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Croatia, North Macedonia and Slovenia.

RIGA: The traditional Latvian Film Marathon organised by the National Film Centre of Latvia returns to the big screen on 4 May 2022, after two years of online screenings. The films will also be streamed worldwide on filmas.lv.

The following grants were announced by the Film Centre of Montenegro on 29 April 2022.

PODGORICA: The Film Centre of Montenegro has distributed 106,000 EUR to four projects as production grants at its last batch of funding.

TALLINN: Film Estonia will receive an additional 3.4 m EUR in 2022, which will bring its support this year to 5.4 m EUR.

NICOSIA: The South African-Cypriot writer/director Stelana Kliris is currently shooting The Islander, a romantic comedy starring Harry Connick Jr. and Mira Sorvino, in Cyprus. The film is a US/Cypriot coproduction funded by the Cyprus Ministry of Education and Culture and supported by the Cyprus Film Commission’s incentives scheme.
