ZAGREB: Acclaimed Croatian director Dalibor Matanić is currently developing a six-part TV series The Last Socialist Artefact, set for shooting in 2018. The project is a Croatian/Serbian coproduction produced by Ankica Jurić Tilić through Kinorama in coproduction with Milan Stojanovic through Sense Production.

BUCHAREST: Seven feature films and documentaries are competing for the main prize at the 6th edition of Cinepolitica International Film Festival, set to take place in Bucharest from 20 to 23 April 2017.

BUCHAREST: Cinemaraton, the first channel to broadcast only domestic films in Romania, started airing on 30 March 2017. The channel is distributed free of charge to the subscribers of AKTA.

BUCHAREST: Warner Brothers will shoot The Nun, a spin-off of its 2016 film The Conjuring 2, entirely at the Romania’s Castel Film Studios starting 3 May 2017. The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy, is produced by New Line and distributed by Warner Bros.

BUCHAREST: The French film 489 Years directed by Hayoun Kwon received the Main Award for Experimental Film at the 7th Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival BIEFF, which took place from 28 March to 2 April 2017.

BUCHAREST: Paul Negoescu begins filming on his third feature film Never Let It Go on 2 April 2017. His previous film Two Lottery Tickets / Două lozuri, an independent comedy produced by Actoriedefilm.ro on a budget of approximately 30,000 EUR, became the domestic film with the best box office (540,000 EUR / 2,403,355 RON) in 2016.

BUCHAREST: Sieranevada by Cristi Puiu won the most important awards at the 11th Gopo Gala held in Bucharest on 21 March 2017. The film was awarded best film, best director, best script, best actress and best leading actress.

BUCHAREST: New Romanian film distributor Bad Unicorn makes its debut on the Romanian market by releasing Ildikó Enyedi's On Body and Soul on 30 June 2017. The company plans on releasing another titles until the end of the year.
