ZAGREB: Silvije Petranovic’s adaptation of the classic children novel The Brave Adventures of the Little Shoemaker sold 21,693 tickets in its first weekend, outperforming Thor: The Dark World.
BUCHAREST: Romanian filmmakers are protesting a bill which they claim will give 50 percent of the Film Fund to local councils for the renovation of old cinema theatres and the construction of new ones.
NICOSIA: The English-language low-budget romantic comedy Committed written and directed by Stelana Kliris is expected to be completed by the end of December 2013.
BUCHAREST: Director Michael Damian is in production with Love by Design a romantic comedy featuring the British-born international star Jane Seymour. The film is produced by Solar Indie Junction, a new company established in Romania by Mandragora Group.
MALTA: After filming among the most beautiful places in the Maltese Islands, including underwater scenes since 30 September, Konstantin Buslov's film The Divers wrapped shooting on 28 October. The Malta based Film Corporation Ltd provided services throughout the whole month of shooting.
BUCHAREST: Romania’s National Centre for Cinema and France’s Le Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée signed a joint declaration on 29 October 2013, promising regular communication and the encouragement of coproduction, distribution, expertise, film education, heritage preservation and fighting against piracy.

ZAGREB: Kristijan Milić’s TV movie Number 55/ Broj 55 is in production on location in Zagreb for Telefilm and public broadcaster Croatian TV (HRT).
ZAGREB: Cowboys/Kauboji based on a popular Croatian play opened on 42 screens in 36 locations – a record for a Croatian film – with weaker-than-expected admissions of 8,210. It was big enough to top the week’s international hit, Gravity.
VALLETTA: Tom Hanks starrer Captain Phillips is expected to stimulate further international production in Malta following the film's ballyhooed 11 October 2013 release.
