FNE at New Horizons IFF: Komasa, Borcuch and Lankosz Projects at Polish Days Works in Progress
Poland 03-08-2018WROCŁAW: Nine Polish projects currently in production and postproduction were showcased on during the last day of Polish Days, an industry event held at New Horizons IFF, including new films from Jan Komasa, Jacek Borcuch and Borys Lankosz.
WROCŁAW: The 7th edition of Polish Days Completed Films (30 July-1 August 2018) within the 18th New Horizons International Film Festival showcased five completed Polish projects including the new titles by Bartosz Konopka, Jagoda Szelc and Łukasz Grzegorzek. This year there was a record number of submissions – 80.
WROCŁAW: Weronika Czołnowska, Head of Industry at 18th New Horizons IFF, talked to FNE about the 9th edition of the New Horizons Studio+ workshop (27-30 July 2018 ) and explained why directors and producers should focus on marketing and promotion during the development stage.
WARSAW: The Polish Government has approved a new draft bill offering a 30% cash rebate on qualifying film production expenses. The Polish Film Institute will have a 200m PLN / 46m EUR budget to refund partial costs of film production in Poland.
PRODUCTION: Ewa Puszczyńska and Ada Solomon Team Up for New Tomasz Wasilewski Drama
Poland 31-07-2018WROCŁAW: Ewa Puszczyńska is developing Tomasz Wasilewski new drama Fools/Głupcy (working title), which will be a Polish/Romanian coproduction together with the Romanian Ada Solomon and lensed by Romanian Oleg Mutu. Producer of Oscar winning Ida talked to FNE during 9th NH Studio+ (27-30 July 2018) taking place at the 18th New Horizons IFF in Wrocław.
WARSAW: Polish Film Institute (PISF) distributed 4.2 m EUR / 18.4 m PLN for the production of eight feature films, four animated films and nine documentaries. This is the second batch of financing in 2018.
The following grants were announced by the Polish Film Institute (PISF) on 20 July 2018.
GDYNIA: Sixteen titles will compete in the main competition of the 43rd Gdynia Film Festival. The festival which is the biggest annual showcase of new Polish film will take place from 17 to 22 September 2018.
ŁODŹ: Volte directed by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała was awarded Best Short Film Transatlantyk Golden Ark Award, while Swedish/Denmark coproduction Becoming Astrid, directed by Pernille Fischer Christensen, won the Transatlantyk Distribution Award in the New Cinema Competition of the Transatlantyk Festival 2018.
ŁÓDŹ: Czech/Slovenian/Slovak/French/Polish coproduction Winter Flies, directed by Olmo Omerzu, has been picked up by sales agent Cercamon. The film had its Polish premiere at Transatlantyk 2018 Film Festival in Łódź.
