WARSAW: Polish box office hit director Patryk Vega is planning a film biography of Vladimir Putin. The production with the working title The Vor in Law is expected to cost 12 m USD.

WARSAW: Jacek Bromski has been re-elected as the head of the Polish Filmmakers Association. The director, screenwriter and producer has been running the association continuously since 1996.

WARSAW: Hellhole, a new horror film from the creators of Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight is in production. The premiere of the horror on the Netflix platform is scheduled for the autumn of this year.

WARSAW: The Polish Filmmakers Association (SFP) has decided to increase the budget for films from the 60 Minutes Programme from 213,632 EUR / 1 m PLN to 267,045 EUR / 1.25 m PLN each. The 60 Minutes Programme was launched in 2018 at SFP Munk Studio.

LUBLIN: Shooting is underway on Irena's Vow, a Canadian/Polish WWII drama directed by Louise Archambaul. The film is supported by the Polish Film Institute and the local government of Lublin, and it is set to premiere in 2023.

KRAKOW: The prestigious list of 15 documentaries eligible to compete in the Krakow Film Festival’s competition includes six productions from the CEE region. The 62nd Krakow Film Festival will be held in Kraków cinemas from 29 May to 5 June, and online throughout Poland from 3 to 12 June 2022.

WARSAW: Jerzy Skolimowski’s EO, which will screen in Competition in Cannes (17-28 May 2022), is dedicated to Robert Bresson, but it is not a remake of Au hasard Balthazar (1966). This Polish/Italian coproduction focuses solely on the donkey.

WARSAW: Polish CD Projekt has announced another project set in The Witcher game series universe. The company will use the Unreal Engine 5 technology, which is expected to become the future of entertainment including filmmaking.

WARSAW: Netflix has announced 18 new Polish titles that are currently in production or set to premiere in 2022 and 2023, including nine Polish feature films and nine series.
