WARSAW: Patryk Vega enters postproduction on his new film Bad Boy, which was shot on location in Wrocław from December 2019 till the first week of January 2020. This time the Polish director takes on scandal in the world of soccer.
WARSAW: Polish cinemas had 60.2 m admissions and racked up over 266 m EUR at the box office in 2019, breaking the 2018 record of 59.7 m total admissions. Lion King and Frozen 2 topped the box office, followed by the local production Kogel Mogel 3 by Kordian Piwowarski.
PRODUCTION: Maciej Barczewski Wraps Shooting On Auschwitz-Birkenau Boxing Champion Biopic
Poland 06-01-2020WARSAW: Maciej Barczewski has wrapped shooting on Master / Mistrz, a biopic of Tadeusz „Teddy” Pietrzykowski, a boxer who won the title of master of the German concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau. The film starring acclaimed Polish actor Piotr Głowacki will open domestically in the fall of 2020.
WARSAW: Midnight Family directed by Luke Lorentzen, a powerful documentary about the work of ambulance responders in Mexico, won the Grand Prix at the 19th Watch Docs International Human Rights Film Festival.
WARSAW: Jan Holoubek is in postproduction with 25 Years of Innocence. The Case of Tomek Komenda, a drama following the tragic story of a man who had served 18 years in prison before he was found not guilty in 2018.
WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute supported the production of three new feature films with 981,787 EUR / 4.2 m PLN in the 3rd and last batch of funding for 2019.
WARSAW: Triple Trouble / Tarapaty 2, a sequel to the Polish hit live action children film Double Trouble / Tarapaty, wrapped shooting in the last week of November 2019 and is currently in postproduction. The film is directed again by Marta Karwowska.
WARSAW: The Polish Film Institute allotted 698,459 EUR / 2.9 m PLN for the production of 12 documentaries at its third session of financing in 2019.
GDYNIA: The German/Polish coproduction Ein Sommer is shooting in the Trójmiasto region in northern Poland. The drama directed by Dustin Loose is supported by the Polish 30% tax incentive scheme. Loose was nominated for the 2015 Student Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
WARSAW: EKRAN+, organised by Wajda Studio, is accepting applications for its training programme focusing on the creative pre-production process based on shooting practice. Deadline for applications is 1 December 2019. Participation in this programme is free.
