COTTBUS: The Serbian/US film When the Phone Rang directed by Iva Radivojević won the prize for Best Feature Film at the 34th Cottbus Film Festival, held 5 – 10 November 2024.

COTTBUS: Thirteen international film projects were showcased at the 26th connecting cottbus cocoPITCH, covering genres from thriller to drama. The projects represented 12 countries including Romania, Greece, Poland, North Macedonia, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Kosovo, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Slovakia.

COTTBUS: Our Lovely Pig Slaughter / Mord, the directorial debut of Adam Martinec, had its international premiere at the 34th Cottbus International Film Festival in the Feature Film Competition. This Czech/Slovak coproduction offers a darkly humorous and poignant look at a rural family’s annual pig slaughter tradition, where everything goes wrong.

COTTBUS: The historical fantasy The Tower of Strength by Nikola Vukčević, premieres at the 34th Cottbus Film Festival. This coproduction between Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia and Germany follows a Muslim Albanian patriarch’s fight to protect a Christian child from an SS officer, highlighting a powerful message of humanity.

COTTBUS: A diverse slate of international works in progress sought support for postproduction, distribution, and festival presentation at the 26th connecting cottbus cocoWIP. From dark comedies to coming-of-age dramas, these projects showcase fresh perspectives and untold stories from Europe’s emerging filmmakers.

GDYNIA: Agnieszka Holland's The Green Border received the Grand Prize Golden Lion at 49th Polish Film Festival, which was held from 23 to 28 September 2024.

GDYNIA: Sixteen films are competing for the Golden and Silver Lions in the Main Competition of the 49th Polish Film Festival, which is held 23 – 28 September 2024.

WARSAW: In a significant move for the Polish creative industry, on 16 August 2024 the President Andrzej Duda approved a law ensuring filmmakers to receive royalties for online distribution of their works.

WROCŁAW: The jury of the 24th mBank New Horizons International Film Festival gave the Grand Prix to the Hungarian/Slovak coproduction Explanation for Everything directed by Gábor Reisz. The festival was held in Wrocław 18 – 28 July and it continues online till 4 August 2024.

WARSAW: The Mazovia Warsaw Film Fund has supported 13 projects with coproduction funding of over 491,000 EUR / 2 m PLN within its 14th annual competition.
