"Venice" by Jan Jakub Kolski received the Children Jury Prize for the "Wisest Film" at the 19th Artek International Children Film Festival that took place in Ukraine between July 3 - 9, 2011. The prize has been voted for by over 3000 children that participated in this the biggest and most influential children film festival in the region.
Grand Prix of the festival has been awarded to "Quiet Outpost" by Siergiej Makhovikov (Russia), while the Special Prize for the "Kindest Film" went to the Norwegian "Magic Silver" by Katarina Glauning and Roar Uthaug.
The last Jan Jakub Kolski's film, produced by the Akson Studio and TVP, has already gained a considerable interest abroad (Best Artistic Contribution Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival 2010) as well as in Poland (Grand Prix of the Camerimage Film Festival 2010 and several prizes at the Gdynia Polish Film Festival). "Venice", from the director of the "Jasminum" and "Pornography", is a carnival of imagination and fantasy. It is a fascinating, beautifully filmed story about growing up, and hoping for deliverance through dreams and rebellion against the surrounding reality. In this magical world the most beautiful Polish actresses, Magdalena Cielecka and Agnieszka Grochowska, create outstanding roles.
