Prague, March 13, 2013 – Punk Syndrome documentary by Jukka Kärkkäinen a Jani-Petteri Passi has become the most popular film at the 15th One World film festival in Prague and won the Bageterie Boulevard Audience Award. It is a vivid portrait of Pertti Kurrikka‘s Name Day punk band of four members who live their lives in full speed despite their mental handicaps.
Punk Syndrome (Finland / 2012 / 85 min) got the best marks in the audience ballot reaching 1,30. The second place belongs to North of the Sun (1,31) and third to Věra 68 (1,39).
There is one more chance for the audience to see two of the most popular films at Světozor Cinema today: North of the Sun is screened at 4 pm, Punk Syndrome starts at 5:30 pm.
The audience award is awarded in cooperation with Bageterie Boulevard, the general partner of the festival. Ballots distributed among spectators before each screening comprised of a coupon for a baguette in Bageterie Boulevard for which everyone was asked to contribute as much as they could afford to a sealed moneybox. The money will be donated to People in Need organization for their international projects. “Our campaign will test the tolerance of Czech audiences. We are curious how much money our customers will give for charitable purposes,” said Petr Cichoň, the owner of Bageterie Boulevard.
Counting of the content of first sealed moneyboxes was done on Tuesday, March 12. Final results of the campaign will not be known before the end of the One World in Prague. What can be said by now is that there was 10 % increase in numbers of spectators who headed from a cinema to Bageterie Boulevard to get a baguette (that is over 25 thousand people). According to Bageterie Boulevard personnel, an average contribution reached around 23 CZK. The campaign will continue along One World in other Czech towns such as Liberec, Plzeň, Hradec Králové. An estimated final sum collected might reach up to 750 thousand CZK.
