A NEW COMPETITION IN FESTIVAL:
NATIONAL SHORT FILM COMPETITION

Launched as a film week 35 years ago by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), Istanbul Film Festival, being not only the longest-running film festival in Istanbul but also the largest-scale film event in Turkey, will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2016. Supported by Akbank for the 12th time in a row, Istanbul Film Festival will take place between 7-17 April 2016 thereby bringing a chapter of novelties for its 35th anniversary.

A breath of fresh air in the festival: National Short Film Competition

On its 35^th anniversary, the Istanbul Film Festival launches the National Short Film Competition with the intent of incentivizing short film making, supporting the development in this field, and bringing together the audience and short films of quality.

The pre-selection board is composed of Head of Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner
Alice Kharoubi, director Fatih Kızılgök, and film critic Serdar Kökçeoğlu. The jury will select the Best Short Film which will be awarded 5,000 TL.

Filmmakers who want to attend the Istanbul Film Festival National Short Film Competition may apply with their films not exceeding 20 minutes and made after 1 January 2015. The deadline for applying to the National Short Film Competition is 29 January 2016. On its 35th anniversary, Istanbul Film Festival will bring together film lovers, all star performers, master directors and blockbuster films from all around the world. In conjunction with the National Short Film Competition, International and National Golden Tulip competitions, National Documentary Film Competition, FACE Human Rights in Cinema and Seyfi Teoman Best Debut Film Awards will also be given in the festival.
