Announcing first Discoveries of 36. WFF!

DISCOVERIES

This won’t come as anything new if we mention that each year in our Discoveries section we present absolutely astonishing films. It won’t be any different this year. In our quest for best movies we visit the faraway lands, watch hundreds of titles to pick the most interesting, thought-provoking, simply special of them all. This year we chose films that were presented in film festivals such as Sundance, Venice and Berlin, and which the Warsaw audiences will have a unique chance to watch as the first ones on the big screen. Come join us and our discoveries for these wonderful travels. Here are the first ten titles from our Discoveries section.

Seventy-five-year-old Inkeri killed her husband with a frying pan. In anticipation of a prison term, she wants to live at last. She and her two sisters get in the car and flee. Premiere at Göteborg 2020.

SUMMER WHITE / LETNIA BIEL / BLANCO DE VERANO, dir. Rodrigo Ruiz Patterson, Mexico 2020, 85 min.

A moving story about the end of childhood, about physical and psychological change. An austere and extremely frank debut. Premiere at Sundance 2020.

An ode to nature, interweaving modernity and tradition, rebellion and conservatism, science and pagan beliefs against the backdrop of a Catholic country. Premiere at Berlinale 2020, Panorama section.

RUN UJE RUN / BIEGNIJ, UJE, BIEGNIJ / SPRING UJE SPRING, dir. Henrik Schyffert, Sweden 2020, 77 min.

Uje Brandelius is the singer of the Swedish band Doktor Kosmos, famous for their humorous lyrics and music videos. Some time ago he noticed some worrying symptoms. Premiere at Göteborg 2020.
