The success of the New Horizons Association industry events. Films developed during the NH and AFF festivals in the program of the prestigious Sundance Film Festival

Prime Time, Jakub Piątek's debut film produced by Kuba Razowski (Watchout Studio), will have its world premiere in the feature film competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The film was developed as part of the international programme New Horizons Studio+ 2019 organized by the New Horizons Association and Creative Europe Desk Polska. In the summer of 2020, right after the shooting began, fragments of the film were presented to the international industry at the largest industry event in Poland – Polish Days (project organised by NH Association and Polish Film Institute). The film aroused great interest and received one of the main awards – the Screen International Award.

The Sundance Film Festival is one of the most important events on the world film map and the largest independent film festival in the USA. The event, organized since 1978, is a platform for the presentation of outstanding films made outside the Hollywood system. The Coen brothers, Quentin Tarantino and Jim Jarmusch (among others) were noticed here for the first time.

About the film

The story of Prime Time takes place on New Year’s Eve in 1999. Armed Sebastian (Bartosz Bielenia) gets into a TV studio. He takes two hostages: a presenter (Magdalena Popławska) and a security guard (Andrzej Kłak). Their lives will remain in the hands of the young man until the station meets his demand and allows him to speak on air at prime time. (Description by Next Film)

Premieres of American films – participants of US in Progress

Sundance Film Festival program includes also two movies that took part in US in Progress – an industry event of the American Film Festival (organized by the New Horizons Association as well). US in Progress is a unique program where American filmmakers develop their productions in cooperation with prestigious studios, companies and professionals from Europe and Poland in particular. Viewers of this year’s Sundance FF will see the premieres of two films that took part in the 10th USinP session in 2020: Superior directed by Erin Vassilopoulos (produced by Benjamin Cohen, Grant Curatola and Patrick Donovan) and We're All Going to the World’s Fair by Jane Schoenbrun (produced by Sarah Winshall and Carlos Zozaya).
