"The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner"
with two awards from VILNIUS
This year Vilnius International Film Festival had for the first time Competition for first and second European films, entitled "New Europe - new names". President of the International jury was the British actor Dexter Fletcher (‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', ‘Topsy-Turvy').
The internationally acclaimed Bulgarian-German-Hungarian-Slovenian co-production with Serbian participation "The World Is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" directed by Stephan Komandarev took the GRAND PRIX FOR BEST FILM and the SPECIAL JURY AWARD FOR ACTING (to the actor Miki Manojlović). Up to now the film has already received more than 10 awards from festivals as Bergen, Warsaw, Tallinn, Zurich, Vilnius and Sofia. This is the first Bulgarian film which received MEDIA support for distribution and has achieved cinema releases in 12 countries after participation in 30 festivals. The film will have a market screening at the forthcoming Cannes Film Festival.
The SPECIAL JURY AWARD FOR DIRECTING in Vilnius went to another Bulgarian film - ‘Zift' by Yavor Gardev.
