„A Hart-Broken Circus” Awarded in Slovak Republic

"A Heart-Broken Circus" by Marek Tomasz Pawłowski has been awarded with the Slovak TV Prize at the 16th EtnoFilm Cadca in Slovak Republic. Jury appreciated the film's "perfect sense of a film esthetics in a reflection on a sad end of the circus world."

Awarded earlier in Chicago at the Hugo Television Awards 2010, produced by TVP1 and Zoyda Studio, "A Heart-Broken Circus" is a synthetic picture of a current state of the circus in Poland. The documentary registers one day of a small traveling circus "Bojaro" since a moment of its arrival to a village till the final evening spectacle. It is a picture of a struggle for survival of a traditionally organized entity who has troubles with finding its place in the new reality and cannot reach the modern audience. It shows a drama of constant, prolonged waiting for a viewer; a waiting that is a part of the circus experience each day caused by a strong competition of the new modes of entertainment: TV, internet, computer games...

The documentary is currently shown in competition of the Ismailia Int'l Short Film Festival in Egypt and takes part in the EuroMedia Award competition for Erasmus Prize that will be announced in the Vienna City Hall on October 15.
