PRODUCTION: Men Don't Cry in Preproduction

    SARAJEVO: Alen Drljević is in preproduction with Men Don't Cry, a Bosnian/Slovenian/German/Croatian/Serbian coproduction starring prominent actors Miki Manojlović, Boris Isaković, Leon Lučev and Emir Hadžihafizbegović.

    The script written by Alen Drljević and Zoran Solomun revolves around a group of war-scarred veterans from different sides in the Yugoslavian conflict who are brought together by a peace organization to share their wartime experiences. Emotions are highly charged as old enmities and hostilities emerge.

    The cast includes Ivo Gregurević, Goran Bogdan and Ermin Bravo. Muškarci Ne Plaču/Men Don't Cry is produced by Deblokada Sarajevo from Bosnia and Herzegovina in coproduction with Slovenia's Iridium Film, Germany's Menderley Films, Croatia's Produkcija Živa and Serbia's Cineplanet.

    The budget is 1 m EUR, representatives of Deblokada told FNE. Foundation of Cinematography Sarajevo, Slovenian Film Centre, ZDF/Arte TV, MEDIA, Ministry of Culture and Sport of Kanton Sarajevo, CineLink Market CNC Award 2012 are supporting so far.

    Shooting is planned for 30 days in Sarajevo and is set to start in May 2016. No sales agent is attached to the project yet.

    Alen Drljević's short film Paycheck/Prva lata was nominated at the European Film Awards in 2005.
