This year brings important change to Docu Rough Cut Boutique, which has been envisioned as an intensive programme for unfinished documentary films from Southeast Europe. As focus of the programme is on further development, packaging and presentation of up-and-coming documentary projects. it always included tutorials and expert individual and group feedback sessions before its culmination in closed screenings and one-on-one meetings in the framework of CineLink Industry Days, but this year Rada Šešić and Martichka Bozhilova, Heads of Docu Rough Cut Boutique, announced an additional module that will precede Sarajevo Film Festival.
“The expansion of Docu RCB into two modules is an important step in the development of the workshop and presents better opportunity for the successful completion of the films. In June 2017, we will welcome our participants for the first time in Sofia, Bulgaria. The focus will be the creative development of the story, but also the personal growth and challenges in front of the filmmakers themselves. This way, when arriving to Sarajevo in August, the teams will be better prepared to face the industry at CineLink Industry Days and present their projects and themselves in the best manner,” said Martichka Bozhilova.
Rada Šešić added: “It is an important year for the seven-year-old Docu Rough Cut Boutique. In these times, when documentaries are so relevant in terms of reflecting and commenting on the hot World issues, we see the need to nourish the upcoming new voices that observe reality in a sharp and creative manner.”
Most of the directors are newcomers who made only short documentaries so far and all the projects explore personal stories and follow individuals who defy conventions and fight for their own rights.
