{mosimage}Methodius Petrikov, manager of Elements said Bulgarian crew members, technical equipment and post production services were involved in the film. "I think the Bulgarian team did very well, and I believe most of the people will be invited again by Manchevski. In Bulgaria he is known as a quite demanding director, extremely focused on his ideas but also creating a good atmosphere during shootings," Petrikov said.
Manchevski personally presented the film during the March 2011 Sofia Film Festival (www.sff.bg). He said that the two fiction and one documentary stories in Mothers work like the "triptychs you see in churches or museums, where the three paintings function as one unit and work off of each other... All three stories deal with the truth seen in a broken mirror. We learn something, and then we later learn that what we know may not be the real truth."
In 2010 Mothers was selected by the Toronto International Film Festival (www.tiff.net), and in 2011 it screened in the Panorama section of the Berlinale. The same year at the Serbian Cinema City Festival (www.cinemacity.org) the film received the award of the Federation of Film Critics of Europe and the Mediterranean (www.fedeora.eu). It was also the Macedonian 2010 Academy Award Submission for the Best Foreign-Language Film competition.
