According to first time director Borislav Kolev, who just received the documentary debut award at the 19-th Bulgarian Documentary and Animation Film Festival “Golden Rhyton” (3-9 December, 2012) “by the end of its 5-th distribution week the 50 000 Euro box office exceeded the 47 000 Euro subsidy for the film.”

Mostly shown in the Sofia multiplexes the film will now move to similar theatres across the country. In order to reach the audiences in smaller towns and villages from next year it will be also distributed by a “travelling cinema” company.

Autlook Films (www.autlookfilms.com) already sold the longer 90 min version to the Spanish TV 3 (www.tv3.cat) and the shorter 58min version to Canal+ (www.canalplus.fr).

Sofia’s Last Ambulance had its Bulgarian theatrical premier on 26 November 2012 at the National Palace of Culture (www.ndk.bg) during the large-scale Cinemania (www.kinomania.bg) autumn film show.

The international coproduction between Metev’s Chaconna Films(www.chaconna-films.com), Bulgarian SIA (www.sia.bg), German Sutor Kolonko (www.sutorkolonko.de) and Croation Nukleus Film (www.nukleus-film.hr) which has already won over ten awards at prestigeous festivals including Cannes (www.festival-cannes.fr) and Karlovy Vary (www.kviff.com) is running in three screening halls in Sofia.

The national distributor is SIA’s Bulgarian Ditribution Company and the world sales agent is Films Boutique (www.filmsboutique.com). According to Metev, who just won the Golden Rhyton (3-9 December, 2012) “best vision award”, “his film is already sold to Germany and France in negotiation”.
