The programme included projects from European filmmakers making their first, second or third films and screenings of new films from Bulgaria and the Balkan region. An audience of distributors, sales agents and distributors had a chance to catch a glimpse of upcoming projects from among others Stephen Komandarov who presented his new project The Judgment as a work in progress produced by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Komandarov’s The World is Big and Salvation Lurks Just Around the Corner was distributed in over 60 countries and his new project attracted a lot of interest.
Sofia Meetings teamed up with Europa Distribution this year who brought along 20 of its members to the event as well as organizing a series of workshops including a of the Tide Experiment and its day for date release project by Lucie Girre. Another hot buzz topic in the EU, crowd funding, was presented by Timo Vuorensola, the director of the highly successful crowd funded Finnish film Iron Sky. FNE TV caught up with both Girre and Vuorensola in Sofia and you can hear what they said this week.

At the 10th edition of SOFIA MEETINGS the following awards were handed out:
BEST PITCHING AWARD in the ‘Second Films’ Programme, donated by Synchro Film, Video & Audio (VIENNA) was given to the producer of the film project KANARI by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurdsson (director) and Tobias Munthe (producer), Iceland.
