Written by Zvia Dimbort and the director of the film Dennis Dimster-Denk, the film recounts the story of an American doctor saving the life of an unknown woman in war-torn Chechnya.

Production is handled by the Bulgarian studio Boyana Nu Image, owned by US based Nu Image/Millennium Films. Executive producers Avi Lerner and Trevor Short started shooting in Pernik in central Bulgaria, a town that has already served as a location for other Hollywood productions.

Acclaimed Bulgarian stage actor Hristo Shopov, Jualian Vergov, and Irinei Konstantinov are among the considerable number of Bulgarian cast and technicians attached to the project.

The film will also make use of choice Sofia locations and the Frania Palace, as well as constructed sets.

Short before the start of ‘Fake Identity' Val Kilmer met the Swedish/Hollywood star Dolph Lundgren, in Bulgaria to film action thriller Command Performance, a story involving a fictional Russian Prime Minister. Rumors are running that the Bulgaria shooting will be the last in Kilmer's acting carrier because of his decision to start a long distance political carrier.

Sofia is expected to receive even more high-profile exposure with the recent announcement that Rambo 5 will shoot there, following a visit from Sylvester Stallone to the Bulgarian capital in order to consider the freshly built sound stages at the Boyana studio.
