Bulgaria has rescheduled analog switch off to early 2015, a postponement of two years. The European Commission has urged EU member states to complete the transition to digital by 1 January 2012.
A draft proposal for the transition is to be completed by 31 January 2011, according to local reports.
The delay was caused by financial difficulties in covering the cost of the transition as well as the costs of the promotional campaign and the purchase of new decoder equipment for Bulgaria's socially disadvantaged citizens.
