150,000 EUR goes to four short films, 1.24 m EUR goes to three debut features, 184,000 EUR goes to two first features already shot, and the last 1.15 m EUR is divided between two feature films.
The production grants for documentaries, animation and experimental films will be announced in the first half of July, and the next production grants will be announced by the end of 2013, representatives of HAVC told FNE.
The selection of films is dominated by first time directors and female directors and by comedies. The artistic advisers who chose these projects said that most of them have strong audience appeal. All the Best is the story of three lonely characters searching for love during the holiday time. Ljiljan Vidić's Baptism by Fire is a Monty Phython-esque comedy set during the WWII. The Eight Comissioners is the long-awaited adaptation of a multi-award winning Croatian novel by Renato Baretić.
The two completed films which won grants, Not All about the Money and Simon Magus, were independently produced and will have their premieres at the upcoming Pula Film Festival.
