Croatian Film Grants Announced

    ZAGREB: The Croatian Audiovisual Center (HAVC, www.havc.hr ) selected five feature films for co-funding at its 19th session on 27 June 2011. A total of HRK 2,200,000 was distributed.

    The five, all live action films, have completed production and are expected to be screened in the national edition of the 58th Pula Film Festival (www.pulafilmfestival.hr), 16-23 July 2011.

    The films receiving grants are Josef by Stanislav Tomić (Alka film), Mrak by Dan Oki (Kazimir association), Fleke by Aldo Tardozzi (Kinoteka d.o.o.), Ćaća by Dalibor Matanić (Kinorama d.o.o.) and 7 seX 7 by Irena Škorić (Artizana film).

    The largest grant, HRK 900,000 was awarded to the history film Josef, directed by Stanislav Tomić, taking place during World War I.

    The feature narrative Mrak by the acclaimed Croatian experimental author Dan Oki was awarded HRK 420,000.

    Fleke, the feature live action debut by Aldo Tardozzi, and an urban drama of two friends, was awarded HRK 400,000.

    Ćaća, a family psycho-thriller directed by Dalibor Matanić and taking place in the province of Lika was awarded HRK 380,000.

    The feature narrative debut by Irena Škorić 7 seX 7, and the first erotic film directed by a woman, was allocated HRK 100,000.

    The final announcement of the films from the 58th Pula Film Festival National Programme, to be announced, is expected to include the following films which previously received funding by the HAVC: Korak po korak by Biljana Čakić-Veselič, Lea i Darija by Branko Ivanda, Koko i duhovi by Daniel Kušan, Duh babe Ilonke by Tomislav Žaja and Kotlovina by Tomislav Radić. The 2011 Pula festival National Programme will screen a record-breaking number of films co-funded by HAVC.
