The comedy, set on a remote Greek island, follows the adventures of a police officer transferred to the island where he falls in love and has to deal with the body of a dead man found found on the beach. Georgiou, in his first feature film, relies on visual gags, to tell his story, especially in supposing the various versions the victim's death, recalling Hitchcock's The Trouble With Harry.
The film, which has not yet opened in Cyprus, is headed to the international film festival circuit. It has been invited to the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Huston World Fest, Washington DC Film Fest, San Francisco International Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival, and International Film Festival of Uruguay.
Small Crimes was co-financed by the Cyprus Film Commission, the Greek Film Center (with 100,000 Euros) and Eurimages.
