Nemec told FNE that this is the first such initiative of its kind. He said he consulted with Jihlava festival director Marek Hovorka on the selection of films, all of which screened in the Czech Joy national competition. The line-up includes thrice-awarded Solar Eclipse (Pod sluncem tma) directed by Martin Maracek.
The entire slate of films will be released on 3 November 2011 in Prague before traveling to cinemas across the country. Each participating cinema must screen at least three of the films, Nemec said.
The other four films selected under the omnibus title Czech Joy in Czech Cinemas are Em and He directed by Vladimir Michalek; A Catapult of Fate directed by Jan Gogola, jr; Race to the Bottom directed by Vit Janecek; and On the Outside directed by Veronika Sobkova.
Nemec, who owns the Verbascum film production company, is distributing the films through his distribution company Verbascum Imago.
