The film which is based on a popular TV series broadcast on CME (www.cmegroup.com) station Nova TV, took in 37 million CZK with 287,000 admissions (debuting on 103 screens) in its first 3 weeks. It is also the top booking film at the upcoming FINALE festival of Czech films (www.filmfestfinale.cz).
The dark comedy about a provincial soccer team was produced by CME's MediaPro Pictures, with 40% of its funding coming from product placement, sponsorship and rebates.
TV Nova General Director Jan Andrusko said that TV Nova will be supporting Czech films with 100 million CZK beginning this year.
