The five films in the competition of animated films for adults are: A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman directed by Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson, Ben Timlett (UK); Fat Bald Short Man directed by Carlos Osuna (Columbia); It’s Such a Beautiful Day directed by Don Hertzfeldt (US); Consuming Spirits directed by Chris Sullivan (US); and O Apóstolo directed by Fernando Cortizo (Spain).
The five films competing in the animated children’s films section are: Goat Story 2 directed by Jan Tománek (Czech Republic, Art and Animation Studio); Day of the Crows directed by Jean-Christophe Dessaint (Belgium); Zarafa directed by Rémi Bezançon, Jean-Christophe Lie (France); Jelly T directed by Michael Hegner (Denmark); and Tad, the Lost Explorer directed by Enrique Gato (Spain).
On the industry side, the festival will host a Visegrad Animation Forum. The 2013 forum has invited TV representatives for a roundtable discussion on animation coproductions and a pitching session of TV series.
Young animators will be on display in the Czech and Slovak competition of student films, as well as in a presentation from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s film school presented by Tim Decker.
Retrospectives include a survey of 60 years of Zagreb Film and a selection of the very earliest Czech animated films, dating back to the 1920’s.
