Le Grand Cahier ( www.intuitpictures.com, www.hunniafilm.hu) also won the Europa Cinemas Label Award. A Special Mention went to the Polish film Papusza (Argomedia Production) na Kos-Krauze, Krzysztof Krauze. The jury for the main competition was headed by distinguished Polish director Agnieszka Holland.
In the East of the West Competition the main prize went to Floating Skyscrapers / Płynące wieżowce ( www.alteregopictures.pl) directed by Poland’s Tomasz Wasilewski. A special mention went to the Slovak director Juraj Lehotsky for his film Miracle / Zázrak ( www.artileria.sk).
In the Documentary Competition with a jury presided over by Krakow Film Festival helmer Krzysztof Gierat the main prize went to Pipeline / Truba, a Russian ( www.vertov.ru) , German ( www.saxonia-entertainment.de), Czech ( www.ceskatelevize.cz, www.hypermarketfilm.cz) coproduction, directed by Russian doc maker Vitaly Manskiy. The Audience Award went to Revival (www.ceskatelevize.cz, www.infilm.cz) directed by Czech director Alice Nellis. Georgia scored with an award of 10 000 EUR in services for the Work in Progress to be directed by Levan Koguashvili Blind dates / Brma Paemnebi and produced by Olena Yershova.
The festival saw its usual appearances by Hollywood stars with both Oliver Stone and John Travolta turning up to collect Crystal Globes for lifetime achievement.
This year’s edition had 12028 accredited visitors, including 357 filmmakers, 855 film professionals, and 643 journalists.
A total of 128031 tickets were sold for 461 film screenings and 235 features, docs and short films were screened.
Of the 855 film professionals attending these included 159 buyers and distributors and 127 festival programmers as well as representatives of film institutions, and other industry professionals.
