Founders Tomas Prasek and Dawna Cha, who worked with programmer partners to develop the original prototype while heading up the Karlovy Vary guest services more than a decade ago, brought the knowledge accumulated while running the Datakal project into a new system called Eventival. The company’s database programme system is primarily aimed at film festivals, but has also been used by organizations and companies as diverse as Cinando, Plzen City of Culture 2015, the Czech Lion Film Awards, and the Czech Film Center.

Prasek was in Zilina to speak with Fest Anca and a group of small animation festival reps from around the Balkans and CEE. Prasek noted that Anca would be its first festival client in Slovakia.

Eventival trains individuals to use its programme, which imports old data into a streamlined system that ends up saving a multiple of work hours. Prasek said he would eventually like to see knowledge of the Eventival system appearing on people’s work CV’s as the system continues expanding throughout the world. Some of its largest festival clients are in Europe, North and South America and Asia. Recent additions include the Hawaii IFF, Guadalajara IFF, Seville FF and Bangalore Short FF.
