"We decided to create Industry Pro because there was a strong need for it coming from our international guests," festival director Jerzy Moszkowicz exclusively told FNE during the Festivals Community meeting held at the 56th Zlin Film Festival, which runs through 3 June 2016. "They wanted to have an opportunity to meet with children cinema professional, especially the ones from Poland".
The Industry Pro section will be launched during the upcoming 34th edition of the festival in November 2016 in Poznan.
"We want to make this event available to our guests, the filmmakers, but foremost to the film students. This will be a platform where we can discuss contemporary children's cinema, especially from the director's point of view," Moszkowicz said. "We plan to organise a live action masterclass focused on working with the actor and an animation masterclass. Industry Pro will also include a pitching session that will showcase projects in preproduction and early stages of development, so the potential partners can attend and pick a project they are interested in".
The Industry Pro event received 20,000 PLN from the Polish Film Institute. "We want to make this event free for the students, especially since not a lot of schools offer classes on how to make good cinema for children. In the future we would like to open Industry Pro to young filmmakers from European film schools," Moszkowicz added.
The full programme of Industry Pro will be announced after the official selection for the festival.
