The City of Zlín Award for the Best Children’s Performance in a Feature Film for Children went to a Slovak/Czech coproduction and actress Vanessa Szamuhelová for the role of Jarka in the film Little Harbour, while the Golden Slipper for the Best Feature Film for Youth was awarded to a UK production Just Charlie directed by Rebekah Fortune. The French production Heartstrings received awards in two categories: the Audience Award for Best Feature Film and the Children's Jury Prize. The costume designer and painter Theodor Pištěk was awarded the Golden Slipper for extraordinary contribution to cinematography for children and youth.
A total of 2,900 people were accredited for this year’s Zlín Film Festival, which noted high attendance reaching last year’s 125,000 visitors. A total of 89 delegations presented their films and the guests of the festival included Swedish director Daniel Bergman, the Czech mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená and the Oscar winner Theodor Pištěk.
"The 58th Zlín Film Festival will take place from 25 May till 2 June 2018 and will be devoted to Czech and Slovak cinematography in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of independent Czechoslovakia," said the President of the festival Čestmír Vančura.
