PRODUCTION: Olympic Flame Race in Development

TALLINN: Estonian director Ain Maeots is developing The Flame Race: 1980, a comedy on the saga of the transport of the Olympic flame from Moscow to Tallinn.

Maeots co-wrote the script with Villu Kangur and Gert Kiiler. The film is produced by Anneli Ahven for Kopli Kinokompanii and by Thors Productions. It has 10,000 EUR in development funding. The budget of the film is 1 m EUR. Anneli pitched the film at the Baltic Event Baltic Bridge East by West forum looking for coproducers from Russia and Europe, particularly Finland.

The film will be shot in Russian and Estonian. The producer said that financing will begin in spring 2015.
