The supported features are Mihkel by Ari Alexander Magnusson, based on a true story about marginal dope pushers and starring Pääru Oja, Kaspar Velberg and Liis Lass, and The Swan/Luik by Asa Hjörleifsdottir, a coming-of-age story.
The documentaries follow: a nine-year-old Sami girl facing the choice of who will become her mother (Dear Mother/Kallis ema by Paul-Anders Simma), film pioneers from the three Baltic countries, who broke away from the ‘60s Soviet propaganda to create their own poetic film language (New Baltic Wave/Balti uus laine), and the culinary superstar Ferran Adria’s younger brother, Albert (The Inventing of Albert/Alberti leiutamine).
The grants were announced on 8 September 2016.
