The tragicomedy Estonian Funeral / Eesti Matus, which was coproduced by Taska Film, Apollo Film Productions and Filmivabrik, and which was released on 1 June 2021, is followed by international blockbusters such as The Croods. A New Age, Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Godzilla vs. Kong and Cruella.

While a domestic film stands at the top of the box office, the average attendance numbers have gone down compared to previous years. As a comparison, René Vilbre’s previous domestic comedy Class Reunion 3: Godfathers, produced by Taska Film, had more than 47,000 admissions during the opening weekend.

The next Estonian films premiering this summer are Kids of the Night directed by Priit Pääsuke and produced by Alexandra Film, and the horror/comedy Kratt directed by Rasmus Merivoo and produced by Tallifornia. Both films will open in July 2021.
