The pair's previously co-scripted films include Somnambulance (2003) and Georgica (1998) which received the FIPRESCI award at the Stockholm Film Festival.
Shot mostly in Estonia, Letters to Ingel tells the story of Jeremia Juunas Kirotaja, a converted Muslim and Soviet Army deserter who was declared lost in action during the Soviet Union's Afghan War of the 80's. Kirotaja, on his way to attend his father's funeral back in Estonia, stops in a small-town stop where he is drawn into a chain of events beyond his control.
Produced by Kaie-Ene Rääk of F-Seitse, the film is budgeted at a reported 817,000 EUR, a mid-range cost for an Estonian feature, and is the production company's third feature. Keedus' two previous films were successful with art-house audience and on the festival circuit but failed to pick up signifant admissions. Letters to Ingel has a creative team that is largely identical to the previous two films.
