By FNE Staff

TALLINN: The city channel Tallinn TV has received a license to broadcast nationally. The license was granted on 13 June. Tallinn TV's license runs until June 2014.

Tallinn TV has been supported by the city of Tallinn. In 2011 the station is budgeted to receive 1.9 million euros.

The national license specifies that the station broadcast 14 hours of Estonian language programming per day and 90 hours per week, and should have a balanced programme of children's programmes, documentaries, informative programming, and feature films.

The station, which is funded by the city government, has led to controversy over the use of public funds. It has been broadcasting regularly since the start of 2011.
