The script penned by Mariam Bekauri and Zaza Koshkadze follows a girl named Inga, who has just turned 18. The law commits her to leave the orphanage. As she has no idea how to live outside by herself and cannot thus risk her life being independent in society, she marries an autistic man from a male-dominated family whom she sees for the first time on their wedding day.
The main characters will be played by Ani Bebia and Zura Gabunia.
The film is produced by the Georgian companies Sibler Films and Natura Film in coproduction with Paul Thiltges Distributions from Luxembourg and Filmai LT from Lithuania. The producers are Tsiako Abesadze, Gega Khmaladze and Magda Datuashvili.
Natura Film is a member of the newly established Georgian Film Cluster. Supported by the German development agency GIZ and EU’s EU4Business Initiative, the organisation aims at promotion and at serving as a united voice of Georgian film industry.
Inga received 40,000 EUR / 110,000 GEL from the Georgian National Film Center in the small budget film category and it was awarded a production grant of 80,000 EUR by the Lithuanian Film Center.
The directors’ previous collaboration, the apocalyptic short film 8 Minutes did well on the international festival circuit winning prizes (Gold Medal at Manhattan Shorts, Best Short Film at Innsbruck Film Festival, Best Sci-Fi at Sydney Indie Film Festival, etc.) and receiving wide critical and audience acclaim.
