The 90-minute drama is produced by Tatjana Mulbeier of Estonian's Cinema Nouveau/MTU Otaku and Georgia's CineTech, along with Hungarian coproduction partner Tomart Studio (www.tomartstudio.hu), which will provide some lab and postproduction services. The 773,000 euro film received a grant of 120,000 from the Georgian National Film Center (www.gnfc.ge) and a 150,000 grant from the Estonian Film Fund (www.efsa.ee). Script author Artur Veeber told FNE that the production has also applied for German and international funding, including Fond Sud Cinema and Eurimages to complete the addition 300,000 in financing needed.
The film is set in an Estonian settlement in Abkhazia in the 1990's, during the fight for succession from Georgia. The story focuses on the owner of a tangerine plantation who unwittingly ends up with enemy soldiers in his home. The film's completion is timed for the 150th anniversary of the Estonian settlements in Abkhazia, in 2012.
