"The aim of the event, taking place under modest conditions, is to present the diverse and living Hungarian film production, confirming the love and devotion of the Hungarian filmmakers for film under the well known difficult circumstances," a spokesperson for the event told FNE.
Hungarian Film Week is organized by The Hungarian Filmmakers' Association, that recently elected a new board and Béla Tarr as its president.
The event will be opened with the portmanteau film Hungary 2011 produced by TT Filmműhely and directed by 11 outstanding Hungarian film directors: Miklós Jancsó, György Pálfi, Benedek Fliegauf, Ágnes Kocsis, András Jeles, Ferenc Török, András Salamon, Márta Mészáros, Simon Szabó, Péter Forgács, László Siroki.
The program also includes new titles by István Szabó, György Pálfi, Kirsztina Deák, Ferenc Török, Sára Cserhalmi, Attila Vidnyánszky, Péter Forgács and Péter Fancsikai. The program consists of feature films, documentaries, short and experimental films. An international conference on the role of the national cinemas in the context of the European cinematography will also take place during the event.
