Felmeri, who is now writing the second draft of the script, told the participants of the Connecting Cottbus pitching forum, “It’s a film about the repetition of relationships,” specifically about the deteriorating relationship between a husband and wife who live near a fish pond After the wife drowns in an accident and the husband disposes of her corpse in a closed off part of the fish pond. When he hires another woman to help with the pond, the two fall in love. She eats the fish who have been feeding on the first wife’s body, becoming more and more like her each day.
The budget is 1.4m EUR. The filmmakers expect to receive 700,000 EUR from the Hungarian film fund, and will also make use of Hungary’s generous 25 % tax incentives scheme. Inforg-M&M Film will invest 100,000 EUR in the film. For Muhi, it was an emotionally satisfying return to Cottbus, where, he told the audience, his international career was launched.
The filmmakers are looking for minority coproduction partners and a sales agent. Muhi noted that the director is a Romanian-Hungarian. He told FNE that he’s in preliminary discussions with potential Romanian coproducers. The film was one of the most popular projects pitched at Cottbus.
Shooting is planned for 2016.
