Gabor Dettre, whose latest movie Tableau screened in the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, has completed principal photography with the cast on his experimental film based on Sophocles' Antigone.
"The shooting ... lasted 15 days," Dettre told FNE. "I shot the film in blue box, and now we're making backgrounds in the Pilis mountain in Budapest as well as in Italy. There will be no movements in the movie and hardly any total, everything is symbolized and reflects the four elements (Fire, Earth, Air, Water). The style of the movie is very special it reminds me of the works of Derek Jarman such as
Caravaggio and
Wittgenstein," Dettre said.
The production companies are the Swiss Multimedia Photoscene AG (http://photoscene.jimdo.com/) and its subsidiary company the Hungarian Makep Media (http://makep.jimdo.com/) which was founded in Switzerland in 1985. The producers of the film are Miklos Rozsa and Susann Wach.
The budget of the movie is not finalized yet, but it doen not include any grants funding.
The movie is shot on DVD and will be released in the spring of 2009, with aspirations for international festival exposure.
