Lithuania Launch Berlin EFM Stand

    VILNIUS: Lithuania announces its film comeback with a stand at the European Film Market in Berlin, celebrating the golden age of Lithuanian film.

    The stand is supported by the Lithuanian Minister of Culture (www.muza.lt), the MEDIA Desk (www.mediadesklithuania.eu), Enterprise Lithuania (www.verslilietuva.lt) and the Independent Producers Association (This email address is being protected from spambots.     Within the past year, Lithuania has noted several successes. Among them are increased film funding,, the adoption of the amendment on the new film law, a newly established Vilnius film office, the planned establishment of a Lithuanian film centre, and for first time ever a Lithuanian film ("Tadas Blinda. The beginning", directed by D. Ulvydas) has beaten all attendance records.

    "We need to share the good news with our colleagues abroad, our country has many hopes in the development of the film industry and we have all the conditions needed for the professional filmmaking in place," said Dominykas Sirvinskas, head of the Lithuanian MEDIA Desk.

    In 2011, Lithuania hosted the premieres of eight documentary and feature films, as well as the filming of the international film production Siberian Education starring John Malkovich.
