FNE at Connecting Cottbus 2013 Breathing into Marble

COTTBUS: Just a Moment, a young Lithuanian production company with international aspirations, joins forces with writer/director Giedre Beinoriute whose documentary Conversations on Serious Topics was selected as Lithuania’s 2013 Oscar candidate, on Breathing into Marble in development as a feature film based on the Lithuanian novel which won the European Union Literature Prize in 2009.

The 800,000 EUR psychological drama has received 15,000 EUR in script development funding, including a grant from the Lithuanian Film Center, and is seeking coproducers from Poland and Germany. Producer Dagne Vildziunaite said the film is applying for Lithuanian funding at the end of November and that it will have distribution in Lithuania. Shooting is planned for the end of 2014.

The haunting plot (which is layered with issues of relationships) involves the adoption of a cruel young boy who kills the natural son of his adoptive parents. The film will be the first fiction feature film from Beinoriute.
